Grieving on Mother’s Day

if you're feeling the weight of grief this Mother's Day because you're missing your mom, know that you're not alone. It's totally normal to feel sad, angry, or just plain bummed out on a day that's all about celebrating moms. First things first, it's important to give yourself permission to feel whatever emotions come up—no judgment here. Cry if you need to, scream into a pillow, or just take some quiet time to reflect.


If you're up for it, find ways to honor your mom's memory, like visiting her favorite spot, cooking her favorite meal, or doing something she loved. Light a candle in her honor or create a memory book filled with photos and mementos. Sometimes, doing something tangible can help you feel closer to her.

Don't be afraid to lean on your support system, whether it's friends, family, or a therapist. Talking about your feelings can be incredibly cathartic, and you might find comfort in sharing memories of your mom with others who loved her too.

Taking care of yourself is key, so make sure to do things that bring you comfort and joy. Whether it's going for a walk in nature, watching your favorite movie, or indulging in some self-care like a bubble bath or a long nap, do whatever feels right for you.
